In memory of our Board Member, gone but not forgotten. Mulikul Mulk Abdullah 66, passed away on January 20, 2023. Abdullah proudly served as vice Chair of The Four Rivers Project. He worked to improve the community by serving on his neighborhood's civic league and on the board of directors for several nonprofit organizations, contributing his time and funds.
Over the course of the last 16 years, he owned and operated Anointed Masonry One LLC. Abdullah was an extremely hard worker, pushing his crew to work just as fast and hard as he did.
Ordained by the order of Monument of Joy Breakthrough Ministries and held a Virginia Minister's certificate. Abdullah also served as leader of Men's ministry and the jail/prison ministries promoting "The Heart of the Matter" initiative throughout Southampton Roads.
Project Overview
The Four Rivers Project, a non-profit organization was established in October of 2014. Our mission is to reduce recidivism by serving disenfranchised men and women affected by social, economic, criminal justice, and educational deprivation through various agency programs, community resources, and funding sources. The overall goal is to improve the quality of life for those who lives we touch and change through community service resource, referral, and outreach efforts. The executive director, Mrs. Lana Pressley, has over thirty years in non-profit agencies and over fifteen years in non-profit management. The work of the agency is done by a trained volunteer corps. Moreover, the board of director’s and advisors are committed to the organization’s program development and growth.
Our goal is to improve the quality of life for those reaching up to a higher standard socially, economically, educationally, and spiritually. Furthermore, we believe our city is a better place to work, play, and live. We are better together. In addition, our work is primarily facilitated through partnerships and collaboration efforts. We arrange a series of sessions, workshops, training, and one on one coaching in life skills, employment, job training, and entrepreneurship.
