Jail/Prison Outreach
The outreach team was directed by a licensed and ordained minister with the primary purpose to increase the participant’s opportunity to grow spiritually, build self-worth, and work toward a productive and constructive life while incarcerated and upon their return to home and the community.
The outreach team efforts have various methods of reaching out, such as one on one visitation in jail and prison, letter writing to those incarcerated, street outreach ministry, the Angel Tree program and Icare. Join us! The team accepts request to assist organizations to build their own services to the incarcerated both men and women.
Kourtesy Kutz
BACK TO LIFE Barber Academy extends its professional services by trained students to program participants for those who have scheduled employment interviews and, in some cases, other business appointments. A small service fee may be respectfully requested. This may be provided by the individual or a referring agency. Transportation to the services is provided on a case by case basis. Service contracts may be available for organizations and non-profits.
The Leslie Bage Community Enrichment Center (PROPERTY SOLD)
We have made several milestones in our progress to renovate this historical donated building located at 1001 E. 26th Street, Norfolk. The building was excited by a mural that was inspired by artist Poetry Jackson and the ArtKives. The facility was to be used for community meeting meetings, small business kiosks and activities for youth. The building was sold in March of 2023 due to the lack of major capital improvements and fundraising efforts. We'd like to extend a hearty thank you to Lisa Suhay, architect Van Hook, Kenenth and Joyce Knapper, Pastor Thomas Hunter and wife Brenda Hunter, Nathaniel Johnson and other building and business associates for their time and contributions. Visit our Projects page to view our progress and engagements at the building.
